Does Charlie and the Chocolate factory count as a Tim Burton movie? If so then he's alright.

Not over all others indefintely
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Saturday 6/17/06 - 5:07:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
He's a decent director, but it's silly to favour his films over all others.

I liked the Nightmare Before Christmas, and that's it.

Tim Burton's films are hit and miss for me. "Ed Wood" can certainly be considered a great film, and in that sense, better than most films. OTOH, "Planet of the Apes" is better forgotten.

Why?
On Principle, or just because you don't think he's all that special?

yep. And he does have a problem getting to the point in his storytelling.

In general, sure. Like if I have the option between two films that I've never heard of and one is produced or directed by Burton and the other isn't I'd most likely go with the Burton film.

ALthough, he really isn't even terribly close to being my favorite director.

Because they're not the greatest movies of all time, and he is a bit hit and miss. The Planet of the Apes movie sucked ass. I'll be interested when he does a movie, but I won't necessarily favour above one that looks better because it's him that's the director.

Fair enough.

I just like Tim Burton himself. hehe.

I think I prefer his style over most others, but It isn't because I don't like anyone else at all.

Of course.
16 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 6/22/06 - 4:21:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
I admit that I haven't watched all of his movies as of yet, but all of the ones I have watched were really great.
16 yrs ago - Thursday 7/13/06 - 5:25:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
no, his movies all... ALL suck
16 yrs ago - Thursday 7/13/06 - 5:30:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
I've never knowingly seen any of them
16 yrs ago - Thursday 7/13/06 - 5:31:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. I like some of his films but not all. So I wouldn't go to see a film purely because it was one of his.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 7/23/06 - 9:23:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
There is something wrong with that guy...he likes animations and dead people.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 7/23/06 - 9:33:38 AM EST (GMT-5)
nO I don't like his stuff at all. I'm sure I'd pick films that didn't involve him.
16 yrs ago - Sunday 7/23/06 - 9:35:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
He's one of my favourite directors and an influence on me, but as Soph said, it's ridiculous to only watch his movies.
16 yrs ago - Monday 7/31/06 - 12:00:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
I enjoy Tim Burton, particularly his animations, but they're not my favourite films. Give me Tom Tykwer or iKrzysztof Kieślowsk any day...

I like Edward ScissorHands and Ed Wood, never seen Corpse Bride, thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was alright-that was, his, right?-and really like Nightmare Before Chistmas.
I can't say that I like them better than everything else, but they are fairly decent, indeed. Better than some other crap I've seen.

:) Plus, he has Johnny Depp in a lot of his stuff *drools*

Yeah, him and Mr Deppy are like best buds or something.
