i usually look over my mistake first. a lot of names aren't in the spell checker and you wouldn't want to misspell them because of the spell checker.

When i type difficult words, a red flag usually goes up in my head to make sure i spelled it right. But if i'm freely typing, at the end, i'll look back and see what silly typos i made.
a problem i have is that, since i type relatively fast, sometimes i'll automatically type the wrong word.
like i'll type something instead of sometimes.
it sucks, because those errors aren't corrected. -_-

Well since it flags my own name, I always take a second to make sure I spelled the word how I meant to.

My friend's last name is Tapley and she's a chaplain. When she was applying for jobs, she would tell the computer to fix all of her spelling errors without bothering to see what they were. She was wondering why she wasn't getting hired, so one day she picked up her resume. Only to discover that her last name was coming out "Topless" due to the computer's lack of proper noun recognition. She changed how she used the spell checker and was quickly hired.

I always check it, especially in word processors that correct your grammar, because a lot of times they try to correct things that aren't incorrect.

Learn from my mistake and argue with it.

I check it over. I'm an excellent speller, so chances are that it was a typo (and sometimes spell checkers give the wrong alternative for typos) or it is a word the spell checker doesn't know (this happens quite a bit when I write papers for science classes).
