I think that all the Swedish movies I've seen have been awesome, whereas even the Godfather isn't so good. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is good and all, but Let the Right One In and the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo are better by far.

let the right one in was amazing. girl with the dragon tattoo, not so much
the choices seem kinda arbitrary; really the fact of whether a movie is good doesn't rely on the country it came from

Død Snø (Dead Snow) was an awesome movie, although it's Norweigan, not Swedish.

Nazi zombies FTW!

Meh, i prefer american, wheras there are a few good norwegian ones, max manus(movie about a resistance fighter during the war) svidd neger(generally just friggin good) and, kill buljo(what can i say, "remake" of kill bill)

I just saw 'Let the Right One In' for the first time about a week ago, and it was absolutely incredible. I'm not even going to see the remake, as it never should have been remade. Why remake something that's already spectacular? I guess some Americans don't like reading subtitles.

im from Sweden, but i can't compare Swedish with American movies, i mean really? Movies are good or bad, it doesn't really matter where they come from,, But on my list of the best films in the universe, 95% of them are american

I don't think we could call that a "remake". More a totally hilarious parody, and the funnybits will probably pass over the heads of anyone not familiar with Norwegian or Scandinavian people & habits. I loved it, but it would probably not be a great export article, unlike "Død Snø" and "Fritt vilt" (Dead Prey).

I love scandivanian cinema - sweden has some great films such as Let the right on in and you the living which are both stay in my top selection of films. Two of my very favourites are from denmark - open hearts and after the wedding - generally i find foriegn cinema to treat there audience with more inteligence but i'm they have as much crap as we get from america it just doesn't leave the country.

Nobody mentioned Slipp Jimmy Fri yet, so I thought I would add it to the list, though I will admit it isn't for everyone.

I don't watch movies like that, so I wouldn't know.
They don't interest me.

I don't watch either of those types of movie much. Not Swedish horror and not Hollywood mainstream.

Is this question asking whether the Swedish version or the American version is better?

I just saw the Eng-language version of Girl w/ Dragon... I thought it was pretty freakin' good. It was a little weird that the dialogue was English but all the writing was still Swedish, but w/e.

I would have a more difficult time following the Swedish version w/o having seen the American version 1st. Seeing American remakes of foreign films often inspire me to see the original, and I can appreciate and recognize the superiority of the original where it applies.
