I'd say 'disliking things that are awesome', since 'things that suck' can have a certain level of ironic kitsch that the true connoisseur may appreciate.

'Course, liking things that suck and thinking they're awesome at complete face value is bad taste.

'Suck' and 'awesome' are also terms that leave some subjective leeway, unless you're talking about more timeless forms of good taste- like the classical forms, or Dior.

I think disliking things that are awesome because it surprises me more when I think something is really great and someone else doesnt.

Disliking things that are awesome.
I say this because when I think of someone who has terrible taste, generally such people cannot recognize pure talent, whether or not they are that passionate about said thing.
Like, if you are watching some incredible musical performance on PBS (are the performances that incredible? I don't watch them) and the person next to you is unimpressed by someone who has perfect pitch or can hit the ridiculously high notes.

I don't really think about it, because my taste is immaculate no matter which way you look at it.

Liking things that suck!

Who determines what is good taste and bad taste anyway? Just anythng that is outside the norm is bad taste?
People like what they like and everyone likes dfferent things. Don't judge them for it.

I think there is greater consensus on what sucks than on what is awesome, so I'll go with liking things that suck (at face value, as Absynth specified) as being more indicative of bad taste.

Of course, if you asked me tomorrow, I might say that not recognizing greatness is worse than being charitable toward something that isn't so hot, which leads to the opposite answer.

I was about to say "liking things that suck" because usually when people hate things that are awesome, they haven't read the book so they don't know what they're talking about anyway.

But maybe people who don't understand art that "sucks" just aren't giving it enough of a chance. Like I've only listened to Lady Ga Ga once and I thought she sucked. Did I just not give her enough of a chance?

It all comes down to how right you think you are in terms of taste.

I went with "liking things that suck" although I don't think that my approval of our vacuum cleaner is an indicator of my bad taste.

You can dislike something while still recognising its value or quality. People are less likely to admit the things they like aren't good.

Liking minimalist prog rock

it's easy to hate on popular things, so we don't know your real tastes other than you hate justin bieber or nicki minaj or something. much more difficult to like unpopular or obscure things.

Liking things that suck, because it's too difficult to determine one's interests by what they hate.
