I hope All-bany is right, otherwise I'd feel dumb.

All-bah-nee. My dad's from there, and says 'Awlbany". He taught me a little factoid about upstate NY accents- they pronounce 'merry', 'marry' and 'Mary' all diffrentlly.

Depends on how the locals say it
I know two places named Albany, and both are pronounced differently
I tend to go with All-bany

Unless I'm very mistaken, I don't think that this is true. Then again, I've only lived in the Finger Lakes, the Southern Tier and the North Country.
Also, the definition of "Upstate NY" varies upon location in the state.

I'm not seeing the difference between "all-bany" and "awl-bany."
My grandpa was from Brooklyn, and one of his sons is named Barry. Everyone here pronounced it like "berry." My grandpa used to get pissed about that and say "it's not BERRY it's BAAAH-RY."

Ahl-buh-nee. Close to "Awl" but not quite.

@HardRocks: I think that Absynth's father has the NYC view of "Upstate." That is, everything south-east of Ulster County and north of The City.
Assuming the accent is from that region, people would say all and awl as "oll" or possibly "owe-will" (if taken as one syllable).
This would be the same dialect that switches the pronunciations of 'earl' and 'oil.'
