People managed for centuries to rise before dawn and yet stay in poverty, so I guess I disagree.

As a general rule, the poor work really hard, really sh*tty hours

Maybe the author didn't mean rich in a monetary sense.
It really depends on the context. If it is referring to monetary wealth, then I would say it is false. If it is referring to happiness, then I would say it could be true.

Disagree in the absolute. Let's look at the jobs, where in general, one must arise before dawn: Construction worker, Military Serviceman, Farmer, Food service industry worker... Meanwhile, aside from Food Service, it's common place to give a shift differential to workers who are willing to work night time (meaning they wake up after the sun has risen). I've seen it go as high as $3/hr (or roughly $3k/yr). Not bad.

Working grave shift is no way to make your family rich.

I know plenty of immigrants who work their asses off 365 days a year and still live in poverty. Hell, I know non-immigrants like that, too.

Whatever happened to those 5 other days? Are those the days all the money gets blown?

Farmers do this, and where I live trust me I know many of them. They are broke and so far in debt the have kids who work and give them money.
