I haven't read it yet. It's on my to read list though. Currently I'm reading Dante's Divine Comedy because I want to read it slowly, suck in all the information and write down a few meaningful quotes.

Yes. And I say you should. It appears to be a love or hate book. But I found it worthwhile.
Divine Comedy is a good one, King. I have yet to read it all, but I've read some passages, and have become pretty interested. What do you think so far?

I read it 30 years ago when i got out of high school and was at loose ends. It was interesting read but a little dated now, but still worth a read. It made me feel better knowing i wasnt the only one to ever go through this phase of life.

Yes, and I really suggest reading it.
And it truly is a love hate book.
I loved it.
I know many people who swear up and down about how much they hated it and how whiny the main character was.
I pretty much loved him.

What an overrated book. If I wanted to hear people bitch and moan about nothing I'd start watching reality tv

DUH! But it's about nothing! And George is always bitching and moaning.

It's more than just simple bitching and moaning
The characters actually do something, and it's their actions (often failed) that drive the plot
The same cannot be said of Catcher in the Rye

I'm on Purgatorio, which I don't really like. Not because the whole Purgatorio is bad, but the concept is just one that doesn't appeal to me. It's truly interesting though, if you understand the people Dante talks to and what was going on at the time he made the comedy.

It was required reading in 10th grade. Actually one of the few pieces of literature I actually enjoyed reading back then.

It does seem to be a love or hate book, but I am actually sort of indifferent about it. I was never required to read it. I read it summer after my first (?) year of college because I wanted to see what the banned book business was all about. *shrug* It was alright.
