When you read a book and there are song lyrics made up in it, do you create your own melody for the song lyrics?
For example, the Redwall books by Brian Jacques are full of songs that he makes up for the woodland creatures. Do you make up the melody for them so it all makes sense?

I always make up a tune and learn the words it makes me like the book better if there's a song in it

No, I usually just read them as a poem or something. I can't imagine that I'd want to take the time to put a tune to it.

I did that with the Hogwart's sorting hat songs. I actually still remember some of the words. Quite catchy

Haha, yes. I read a lot of fantasy books, and a lot of them have such songs. I can't help but make up a tune.

Thomas Pynchon always has random songs in his books. It's hard not to hum inwardly along.
