they should, but they dont have to.

No, I think it would be hypocritical if their styles/concepts/ideologies were against eachother.

No, of course not. They should support whoever they feel like supporting.

Don't be silly.

No. Artists/Musicians etc are literally in direct competition with one another. Despite what people think, they are two cut-throat industries, and it is impossible to appreciate every input people contribute to that field. Some of it is just plain shocking.

No, that's kinda dumb.

I hardly think Claude Monet would appriciate someone using dog feces to paint Jesus Christ. However, I would imagine most artists can find the time to appreciate other's work.

you don't have to support their art or style but supporting the cause might be good

That would be a personal choice. Not some general 'support the arts'.
14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 4/22/08 - 9:05:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
no...if the artist doesn't like the other artist's style there shouldn't be a need to compliment them on it
14 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Tuesday 4/22/08 - 9:09:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, especially if they choose not to.

Just because something's art doesn't mean it's worthwhile. It could be sh*t art that should be reviled.

No. Art is the visual representation of ideas. No one in their right mind is going to support someone who's promoting ideas that conflict with their own.

Also, a lot of art is simply crap.

That's what I was going to say. Not just Music and visual arts, but literature too.

That seems rather stupid. Not only is art a difficult field in which to make a living, but some artists are just not very talented. Why should an artist support some hack that is competing for the limited dollars spent on art?
