There is always a debate going at my school. The football players always have the upper hand in the debate because they are by far more popular. Football players call Cross Country runners weak and 'gay' while the Cross Country runners call the Football players homosexual fat men who love to be at the bottom of dog piles.

Cross country is totally winning. Possibly because there are only two votes at the moment.

Neither. I think hockey is a super-tough sport.

Probably cross-country. It's much more mentally challenging; if you screw up the only one you can blame is yourself. Can't fall back on someone else like you can in football. This isn't to say that football isn't demanding, mind you.

I would say cross-country is more demanding and scary. Running 10 miles a day just to practice for the big game beats smacking your teamates buttocks.

I respect cross country but my vote is for football. I think that it takes a lot more guts to get leveled by a 400 pound man than it does to run.

I agree that hockey is more violent but between football and cross country, my vote is definitely for football.

Hockey is a very difficult sport. I respect that more than XC because you're doing the same thing, using all your energy for a long amount of time, while skating, and being beaten up by 300 pound men with sticks

Out of those two, it'd have to be football.

You spend at least half the game on the bench in American Football since the offense and defense use different players. So I voted for Cross Country. Cross Country certainly takes more "guts" and requires more physical endurance. But American Football players are stronger so I wouldn't say that in front of them, unless I had a clear path to run away. BTW - the sport that requires the most "guts" endurance, and toughness is definitely boxing.

Soccer-Football for those who live in Europe-is a whole lot harder, and Hockey is even harder than that. Have to go with Cross-Country. I hate American Football.

It takes constant running and hard work. So Cross Country.

In football you need to know how to train yourself physically and mentally. Then you need to know how to be apart of the team. There is no team factor in cross-country. Therfore football is harder.

Does that mean that American football is still harder?

What a crap question. I can't answer this. American football requires more guts. Cross country requires roughly zero guts. Cross country requires more hard work. It's an individual sport where you only get better through hard work. You can't rely on team mates or anything. Unanswerable.

well both require a lot of guts and hard work, but running is a natural thing that humans do whereas the sport of football is not something you can be naturally good at. you have to learn it. so since a lot of people are just good runners anyway, football is probably more hard work.

Cross country running looks more mentally challenging and probably more exhausting. Having said that, I have never played American football so I can't really judge. I'm sure there is somewhere on the pitch where you can stand and avoid the ball though.

I think it depends on what position you play in football cross country is demanding physically as well those running is hard and you need endurance. I'd call it a tie
