haha, funny story.. freshman year i was bored in my geometry class (this is back when i had long hair, by the way), so i took a round brush and was playing with it. i ended up winding it way up in my hair, and it took 3 girls to get it out. it was good times.

oh yes, as a child I thought it would work like a curling iron in my wet hair so I wound it up tight, then tried to pull it straight out and caused a huge and painful mess. I was forbidden to even touch round brushes for the rest of my life. I'm still a bit scared of them.

That explains my most regretted hairstyle as a child actually.

I've known other people who've gotten them stuck in their hair, so I learned from their mistake and don't use them.

My original comment was going to be "You have to be smarter than the brush (or whatever tool/implement) you are using.... THEN I noticed that the only post-ers were female. Boy-oh-boy what kind of report on the intelligence of women is that? Adveresly, one could say either that ladies are more likely to have longer hair (therefore making them more prone to befall the evils of a round brush) OR (more likely) that women are more likely to admit their mistakes...
You decide!

No, a flat one. I took it as a sign telling me to get my hair trimmed.

Hm... actually, try using one. Get it stuck in your hair, and then come back here and make that comment.

It's not still there, so I wouldn't say it was hopelessly caught, but things did look pretty bleak for a while. I've already had to pull one out of Jess' hair, too.

All the time! Round brushes are now banned from my bedroom.

I've had one get stuck but not so hopelessly that it's still in my hair - also, not so hopelessly that I had to cut it out of my hair. Before reading these posts, I thought I was the only person (woman) who didn't like round brushes.

I overcame my fear of the round brush. It's all I use now, but I know not to wind it up in my hair.

My friend got it stuck in my hair once. I was just sitting there and she wound it up. I was like "Rachael, what did you just do?" and then she started to laugh and she tried to get it out. I took a shower and put conditioner in my hair and then I put olive oil in it to try to loosen up the hair. It didn't help. We ended up yanking out the brush and I got a bald spot. She didn't understand why I was so mad at her...

I don't use a brush on my hair, I use a pick. I have impossibly curly hair, so there's no way a round anything is coming near it.

When I was about 10 yrs. old. I had really long hair down past my butt. I decided to use a round brush
(still not sure why?), and it got so caught up in my hair that i had to cut it out . My poor beautiful hair was cut like 5 inches. :(

It's probably just my ignorance, but is there an advantage of using a round brush over using a flat brush? And if no, why are there round brushes?

Yes, and that's why I never use round brushes.

I almost got one stuck trying to figure out the use of its roundness. It scared me, even though I got rid of it eventually without loosing a lot of hair. And I still don't understand the use of round brushes.
