It was good, but a bit too preachy about preservation of film, I suppose.

And

the main kid looked like Pan.

I preferred the muppets personally, but I like my movies happy more than the average adult or even kid.

Oh my God! When I saw the trailer I was trying to figure out who the boy reminded me of. I think that may be it.

Lol! I had the exact same thought when I saw the trailer on TV: "That kid looks like Pan."

Saw it with the boy this morning and absolutely loved it. Very magical experience. Just a little bit of comedy, a little bit of adventure, a little bit of mystery, and a whole cast of beautifully intertwined characters. It was really fascinating to see how special effects were done even 100 years ago. We look at 'em now and think about how hokey they are, but there was so much time and effort put in to pull off "movie magic" just like today. Really, only the technology has changed.

Loved it. I had read up on
A trip to the moon (just bought the book "1001 movies before you die"
and was really keen on seeing it. Was really interesting to see how it was done.

And the whole movie is on youtube!!!

I'm sorry, but i hated the movie. It was too...old for me. My parents dragged me along though. Though i did like the part with the guy with the splint and the flower-selling lady. That was moving.

I thought this was so beautifully done. Not necessarily Scorsese's best directing effort, but my god.

the depth of story intertwined with film history was just incredible, especially given the source material. I thought it was a brilliant adaptation of a book that essentially leads you to draw your own conclusions, and the way Scorsese framed it was incredibly perfect given his life experience and profession. And the SFX were so well-placed and read (to me anyway) like an homage to the real Georges Mèliés.

Bottom line, this was the second-best movie I saw this year, The Artist being the best.
And of course, Ben Kingsley was just as amazing as usual.

Loved this, but the book was better (it always is). Great adaptation, though.

I saw this at a friend of a friend's house on Saturday. It was a nice movie. I liked it. And I don't know how it's possible but
You know that part right before they brought the automaton to life and the girl thought it looked sad? Did anyone else think it seemed to be smiling when it was "alive?" It seemed that way to me. I don't know if the movie makers actually did make an "alive" face and a "dead" face. I don't think so. I guess that's special effects for you.
