4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:27:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
I didn't really love On the Waterfront, tbh.

Forrest Gump (I love this stupid movie SO much.)

4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:33:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
Honorable mention to The Deer Hunter, but that movie is brutal.
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:37:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
the deer hunter is so good
it took me a while to come around to it
all i wanted was the vietnam sh*t and i was so impatient with the wedding stuff but it's such a great movie about how war affects real communities back home and all that domestic sh*t is so essential and what it's about
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:43:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
My mom did a long-term thing a few years back where she watched all the Best Picture winners in chronological order. She made me come watch The Deer Hunter with her, even though we had both seen it before. It's so good, but "enjoyed" isn't necessarily the word I'd use.

(She was really irritated about having to watch Rocky, lol.)
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:48:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
rocky is a surprisingly great worthwhile movie imo!
i love so much that it's not a movie about winning, it's just a movie about competing, and that's enough
it's so well acted, so well staged, so well placed. everything works and it's such a canny underdog hero tale that doesn't overreach itself and is so rich in detail it's beguiling
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 6:49:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
I love All About Eve, ftr.

I need to watch more Bette Davis movies.
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 7:19:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
I actually agree about Rocky, and she enjoyed it far more than she expected to. I don't think she'd ever seen it before.
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 8:29:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
not 'best', just favorites

no country for old men
deerhunter
chicago
the sting
4 yrs ago - Friday 11/3/17 - 8:35:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
The Sting is so fantastic. Mom's favorite, and one of mine too.
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 2:00:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
return of the king
amadeus
unforgiven
silence of the lambs
the king’s speech
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 5:15:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
lol kings speech
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 7:16:23 AM EST (GMT-5)
really, the kings speech was so clunky and bad and was just ugly from a visual perspective

also the sting felt so clinical and cold to me and i don't know why people like it so much
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 8:26:59 AM EST (GMT-5)
I haven’t seen as many oscar movies as I would like

I do want to watch them all at some point, but who has the time?

I quite enjoyed king’s speech
especially firth’s performance and the relationship between the king and logue

I also listed return of the king even though I agree with skyfish that of those movies, it probably least deserved the win
but out of the oscar movies I’ve seen it’s one of my favorites
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 5:09:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Braveheart
Rocky
Godfather
Godfather 2
Titanic

Artsy films suck
4 yrs ago - Saturday 11/4/17 - 7:29:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
One Flew over the cuckoo's nest
Annie Hall

Chariots of Fire
The Godfather Part 2
Lawrance of Arabia

3 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 12/20/17 - 5:44:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
Not in any order

Rocky
Forrest Gump
Slumdog Millionaire
Schindler's List
Unforgiven
3 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Wednesday 3/7/18 - 7:55:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
It's tough to narrow it down to five but here goes:

The Godfather
Schindlers list
Forrest Gump
Patton
No country for old men

Leaving out Rainman, Braveheart, Gladiator, Godfather 2, the Sting, Kramer vs Kramer, Silence of the lambs among others that should arguably be in the list.
