Claire Danes character gets pregnant after a roll in the hay with a non polish guy. He wants her to have an abortion and she doesn't want one (you know its against the churches wishes). The guy tells her all you Poles are the same (meaning that she trapped him on purpose). The Mother Lena Olin is having an afair, and the husband finds out. He's a baker and she belongs to some Polish club. Its a good movie to rent, although it does come on Bravo alot and the WE channel.

It's one of those films that if you changed the ethnic/religous variables it would have been banned but it was OK because it was directed toward Polish Catholics.
