It's a good idea, but not likely to work. Most of the time a person will completely disregard a book that's been left somewhere, or they'll send it to a lost-and-found type place.

But the whole philosophy of Bookcrossing.com is not to just release books in the wild just so they get caught and logged, but to give the gift of books without expecting anything in return. I've been doing it for about a year, and love it!
