I’m referring to that song by Journey or Foreigner or Boston or whatever. It’s actually a kind of dark lyric if you look at it right. It’s not like hey... Who's Online | Find Members | Private Messages

I’ve been getting more overtime. But I also probably spent over 100 dollars this weekend.

Gofundme protects the creator right? No one’s going to know who made that Gofundme, right?

I don’t know. Work is keeping me busy.

Really want to send a “How’s it going?” or “How are you doing?” text to that person. She said that she would reach out to me but I don’t know if that’s true.

5 hours and fifteen minutes of overtime so far. I think I have the opportunity for more today as well.

Off to work.

At church I noticed a hat on a shelf. It said Jesus is my boss. I appreciated it.

Rough night last night.

Praying for better outcomes today.

Getting tested for Covid on Tuesday.

Was at my cousin’s house and his younger brother tested positive. Just to be safe.

I need to stop spending 100 dollars on the weekend though. More like 200 after it’s all said and done.

Also. The person texted me back. Just to say that her loved one had passed.

And I texted a few times sharing my sentiment.

Then I had a missed call after a nap. And I think she cancelled the call when I tried calling back. But I think she was at work.

So I texted again explaining the nap and that I have to get a Covid test.

And now I think she has the day off so I might try calling once in the afternoon and then scrub it out of my brain again.

Thom Yorke’s Eraser style.

Just four more days and I’m on vacation. Getting my COVID test this morning.

I did end up getting back in touch with the person I was texting. She’s going through a lot. She’s sleeping now. But we hung out. I think she just needs someone to be there for her at the moment. I’m trying to be that.

I think I’m still doting on her though. She still laughs. She still smiles. But she reminds me that she needs her space and her time to mourn. The woman who passed was very close to her. She’s doing her best to keep it together and I am trying to help any way I can.

She came over and we spent time together last night. When I went to bed after a few beers she was going for a walk. She woke me at four thirty to go get milkshakes.

She said she tried sleeping outside but she didn’t sleep. I’m on the couch now and she’s in my bed. I can’t fall back asleep. But I think she did fall asleep.

I don’t hear anything.

Covid shot at 930 35 minutes away. Coffee soon.

Negative Covid test.

Almost vacation. I’m exasperated. Need to regather.

What kind of milkshake can one get at 4:30 in the AM?

Glad to hear that things are going well with that and you don't have Covid.

The local convenience store opens at 430 and sells ice cream.

I also want to mention that I found a metal shaving in my ear from work.

I also shaved. And feel despondent.

I would show myself without a beard but I hate selfies. So this is the top search result for images of despondent.

Thinkin about that John Prine quote I heard on Marc Maron about drowning your girlfriend in the river. Not in a violent way. But in concept.

Prayers for the person I was texting if you’re so inclined. She is not handling the loss well.

I need this vacation.

Train at 1 tomorrow. To the city for a concert. Then a week of nothing.

I need to look into rescheduling a dentist appointment. And possibly rolling over a 401k. But otherwise I don’t have to worry about anything for a week.

Bright Eyes was good. I teared up during Poison Oak.

I almost fell asleep at the bar.

It was fine. The city was nice. Good weather. Good Japanese food. Ran out of time to get a bagel.

On the train again.

WHat Japanese food did you have?

A bento box with teriyaki shrimp.

I ate steak tips and shrimp.

And fried scallops

And a spicy chicken sandwich.

And pizza

Chicken too though. Curry chicken and pan fried thighs.

This could go in the dinner thread.

But the vacation was nice but over too soon.

We made a trip to Portland that was fun. Went bar hopping in the afternoon. Had breakfast and lunch. Cool old architecture. I think a lot of it is original from the port. Beginning of Moby Dick or something.

Played a bunch of sets of tennis. Lost most of them but in my defense I was using a different racket because I forgot mine on my kitchen table. Along with my headphones so I didn’t bother with any morning jogs.

Drinking was less than previous years. Still enjoyed but didn’t really over indulge. I think I drank more last night realigning in my apartment than I did any night on the trip.

Just a couple weeks and I’m going to classes in Rhode Island. Which I’m probably going to treat like a mini vacation.

Trying to see positive as positive.

I have to figure something out now though.

I need to evaluate myself for my boss. Rough drafts coming…

I think my angle is, after the audit training, I understand the role that I’m accomplishing. And particularly in light of the effectiveness of the automated measuring equipment. I feel comfortable with the myriad tasks that are laid out. And I can act within that task list and act with direction and moving towards the accomplishment of a goal.

Negative is being too forward thinking and leaving some of the basics of quality and patience. And biting off more than I can chew. And then managing stress levels as I may or may not end up doing more than is required of me when a more even distribution of workload throughout the department could possibly ensure the “fine tooth comb” that is essential to the practice of quality.

So I think I’m proactive, I’m efficient, I’ve learned the purposes and goals, but I’m in the mass production mindset while still trying be careful and discerning.

Like I want to say that I want to be better at the final inspection bench but I don’t think I have to. We have a first shift tech who focuses on that. What I need to learn is teamwork within the department. And striving towards organizing workload among a group rather than trying to do everything for everyone.

I’m a big fat pig who eats everything on the table and goes crazy with worry that I haven’t done the job correctly. I need to recognize that other people are trying to help as well and I should welcome the teamwork.

And I just need to calm the f*ck down sometimes.

But yeah. I’m going to do big picture over bullets.

Will touch base with the quality manager tomorrow.

Try and summarize.
