So Spurs in 2nd place dropped 3 points and Liverpool are thrashing Arsenal 4 - 1 at half time while making the title almost impossible for Chelsea it does improve their chances of a Champions League spot.

even as a man united fan i'm not surprised liverpool is top of the league right now.

i think the fight for the last CL spot will be closer than people expect. i'm optimistic with a managerial change united can contest that 4th spot. but it will be a long climb ahead.

Sigh

No-loss streak was fun while it lasted. That first near goal by Salah was crazy close.

They might decide to utilise Big Sam's international experience

Wagner has gone. Thanks for the memories

Big Sam is early favourite for the job

Gonna be a nail biter towards the end of the season unless Liverpool or City start losing repeatedly. Reminds me of the first season I started watching the PL. Last year Suarez played at Liverpool right before he bit someone (again) at the World Cup and they sent him off to Barcelona. If it comes down to the last day and Liverpool lose again I will probably have to lay down in bed for a week.

Seems like Emiliano Sala's transfer from Nantes to Cardiff City has gone badly pear-shaped. Cardiff paid a record 15 million for the Argentine striker on Saturday and he took a flight in a small plane to Wales on Monday evening. The flight disappeared over the Channel Islands around 8 pm. and 24 hours later there has been no trace of its whereabouts.

New day, new manager, same old sh*t.

It's been patently obvious that we need a proven goalscorer since the beginning of last season. Now we're going to sign a 21yo from league 1 for £2m.

The promotion and then the survival season was a great journey but this season is nothing but frustration.

I'm looking at tickets for Chelsea Huddersfield right now.

Just waiting for the right ones to drop.

If you get relegated you get a big payout to finance the contracts.

West Brom yo-yoed for a few years.Big payment for promotion and another for relegation. They didn't spend big but stashed a lot of it to spend when they could invest it all at once.

It's not PL, but the Kapa / Sarri substitution debacle was quite the show. How long until Sarri is gone?

should have been a while ago, but you never know with this club. chelsea is still in a european spot and wolves are far below them with 9 games left. they're still in contention for a CL spot.

it would take an utter collapse for them to fire sarri. but abramovich hasn't been shy when it comes to sacking managers. i think it'll happen after the season if they don't qualify for CL.

The problem is that if Chelsea sacked him now, they wouldn't get an adequate replacement until the end of the season and they would build on the reputation of burning up managers. The issue with Kapa is a minor one compared to some of his inconsistent team selections.

Just gonna go ahead and post about UCL in the Premier thread.

That Liverpool vs Bayern game was ammmmaaaazing.

It's been a while since we saw 4 English clubs in the quarters. Hopefully it will become a regular occurrence again.

It's been a strange competition this year. A lot of the big clubs dropping out early. Same in Europa League too.

i'm not excited about having to face barcelona next round, but if a team like roma could pull off an upset, i don't see why we couldn't.

in the league, that loss to arsenal definitely set us back a few steps. there was a time i didn't think we would lose a game for the rest of the season. despite the cup loss, i still think we should bring solskjaer back next season. he's really turned the club around, in my opinion.

4 English Clubs in the last 8 takes pressure off the demands to reduce the number of English clubs to 3.

The Champions League qualification competition certainly adds another dimension to the league.

i think it shows how competitive the league really is. in some leagues you have one or two teams trading the title back and forth. in england you have as many as six teams that can challenge for the title, possibly a few more with roster additions and some luck (particularly speaking about wolves and everton here).

All the English league needs is a few more billionaires to add to the mix.

They need to stay out of helicopters though.

Going to be a hell of an end to the season if Man City and Liverpool keep swapping top spot like this.

Well this Liverpool Barca match is a disaster for LFC. We've had all the momentum in the second half and can't manage to do anything with it.

So...fun two days of soccer there.

Brighton gave me hope early in the game and then they did what I figured they would. Folded like a cheap pack of cards against City. Now all my hopes are pinned on Liverpool taking the Champions League.

i'm rooting for ajax because there's no way i would be caught cheering for liverpool for anything.

You... Uh.... Well I mean you can root for Ajax to take 3rd place in the Champions League. But if you're avoiding cheering on Liverpool in the final you'll have to root for Tottenham.
