Just read that GSP is injured so can`t fight at UFC137 which means Diaz-Penn is the main event. TBH I think that would probably have been the more interesting fight... Who's Online | Find Members | Private Messages

Marketability. Be a bad boy - curse and flick the bird, everyone loves it and you sell tickets.

Don't turn up to a press conference, ala Nick, and you lose a title shot.

It is true, but I imagine UFC could do without major network bird flips and four letter words. Fingers crossed.

Tonight's a big night for MMA. The obvious fun fights, and Renan Barao might be having a popularity spike if he can take out Scott Jorgensen. 27-1-1 and his only loss was his first fight by a split. Even with most of those fights at smaller organizations, that's one hell of a marketable record.

Like Cacera's ground game.

Amazing how smooth he is with his positioning.

Too bad he lost due to those groin kicks which were accidental... and would have won him a fight in the street.

Oh.. and interesting Karate fight with the first preliminary fight.

It's cool how some martial arts are slowly evolving to become competitive.

Poirier's triangle armbar made me squirm just watching.

I thought that arm was gonna break.

Haha! F*ck Diaz

He lost fair and square.

Glad Condit won.

Everything you said.

Some really entertaining technical fights/moments tonight. Seemed to piss off most of the people at the bar, but I enjoyed the hell out of a good chunk of the card.

Also I think I'm done even trying to browse most MMA forums.

Last night proved to me that MMA "fans" are some of the most embarrassing people to be associated with in all of sports.

Oh?! How so?

In general MMA fans seem to flip flop/bandwagon more than any sport I know. On top of that last night Sherdog was flooded with "DIAZ GOT ROBBED" and "CARLOS RAN LIKE A BITCH" threads.

The best comment included in one sentence "Diaz clearly controlled the octogon all night....stuff...I don't even understand what octogon control is".

That one just about killed my brain.

F*ck that... I'm with Nick Diaz on this.

Maurijuana is not performance enhancing.

In fact it's the opposite.

Also.. I take back some of the hate I have for Nick Diaz after I was shown a video of him calling out Mayweather to fight him.

He seems to be the only one that did after Mayweather trash talked the UFC.

So I'm 7 for 9 on minimum three fights per night parleys in the last 9 events. Of course this has all been with no real money, so I think I may start that up again. I've always been pretty good at this game, and made steady profit betting in the past.

If only...

Not really the point though is it? It's a banned substance and he had it in his system - pretty unforgivable for any athlete, let alone one paid $200k to fight - Condit got less even with his win bonus.
9 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 2/11/12 - 1:08:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
I do agree with that. Whether or not it should be on the ban list is certainly debatable. That doesn't change the fact that it's on the list, and every fighter is aware of that when the sign the dotted line.

Well then I side with Diaz on these grounds

If you think it shouldn't be on the banned list then campaign against it. If you're paid $200k to fight - the biggest purse on the card even without a win bonus - then you should at least obey the rules. No question.

Yeah.. I guess the difference between me and you is that I don't respect rules for the sake of it.

So we're not going to agree on this.
9 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Sunday 2/12/12 - 12:57:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
I understand your point, I really do, and I'm not asking you to respect rules for the sake of it.

My point is about elite athletes, paid a huge sum of money, who *should* respect rules, because it's within the framework of those rules that they get to earn such large sums and live the life they do.

Seeing this guy perform tomorrow night. Clearly I should pick a fight with him...that could only go well.

Heading to the Press conference tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing Jones and Evans sitting within 20 feet of each other in person.
9 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 2/16/12 - 12:27:41 PM EST (GMT-5)
Who do you think will take it? I can't see either of them losing - but someone has to! I think I'd prefer Jones to win, if only cause he's a bit of a legend in the making - don't want to ruin the fairy tale!
