Only Christ was fully incarnate in the word. And man remains fully not but allowed to become in relationship with the word and in relationship with God. That’s the only point of selling. Being blessed to have a relationship with creator and his creation.

And I think like camel boy and CowDung’s debate about statues is just “cancel culture” I’m probably just over here trying think of who decided to create the OP concept on the internet.

“The internet shorthand OP comes from Usenet, an online discussion forum that started in the 1970s that gave rise to a lot of internet slang. On Usenet, OP emerged as a convenient way to refer back to the original poster whose comment started the longer thread. The term is recorded since at least the 1990s.”

Your problem is that your world view is based on what YOU think, through the filter of your religious conditioning.

It's boring. You bore people with this incessant home spun pseudo-philosophical drivel. If you are really a Christian just get on with it. Stop trying to make yourself more "interesting" with your Christianity 4.32.1 because it's not working.

Just defending myself from people saying that I’m being a holier than thou Christian.

Don’t think I’m all of a sudden a less sinful person than anyone else.

I suppose it's comparable to being a holier than thou non-Christian...

Trying to define people by what they are not is just a futile exercise.

But then that is something of a habit with you... futility.

The OP response is in some ways related to Israel and Judaism being the origins of the Abrahamic faiths. But I still appeal to Galatians. Not really expecting any of this to magically disappear.

Just to put the re it’s straight CD, I don’t think I “mock” believers. I think you’re wrong, of course, but then you think *I’m* wrong, so I guess we’re square on that.

I do however mock people who present themselves and their beliefs in a way that I find ridiculous.

Yes, we both think the other is wrong with that we believe, but one of us doesn't make a point of expressing that, particularly in the way it was done here. It sounded to me that your 'Saved from what?' comment was intended to poke fun at their expressed beliefs, in a somewhat sanctimonious manner...

I guess I saw it as you presenting yourself and your beliefs in a way that I find ridiculous.

Well that’s just dandy, but I think “saved from what?” Is a reasonable question when someone says “like you, I’m saved.”

So what is it you’re saved from exactly?

It's a term that some Christians use. I believe it means that they have 'found Jesus', or something along those lines.

I think CD chose the wrong hill to die on... but nothing new there.

CD does like to seize upon the weakest grounds for criticism. I think it feeds his ego to defend the weakest of position at all costs.

I really don’t get why religious views have such a protected status. I don’t mean in law, I get that, but just generally it’s seen as bad form to question someone’s religious beliefs for fear of causing offence.

There’s no other “thing” about which people can hold an opinion which is treated with the same sensitivity - what’s so special about religion?

I just found it ironic that he claimed you were being sanctimonious by questioning someone's opinion that they themselves were saved. I always understood that it was God incarnate that sat in judgement on the last day.

I think the don't question my beliefs card is one of a pack of tricks, along with, you can't prove God doesn't exist, therefore he must.

I don't think that 'questioning someone's religious beliefs' is really a problem. Sincere questions being asked to gain understanding or knowledge about another's religion should be fine.

It's the mocking tone and/or negative labeling of those expressing their beliefs that I find to be offensive- - 'sanctimonious', 'Bible thumper', 'Jesus freak', etc. It's really not that uncommon.

If your 'saved from what?' question was sincere rather than an attempt to mock, I apologize.

Honestly the Bible does have some choice things to say about people who deny Christ. And those people are everywhere. The apostasy of the church is from false teachers who are actually deniers of Christ. And if my faith was perfect I’d be moving mountains. I really have been sticking to the daily Bible readings. Continuing to establish that foundation. But I’m as fallible as the next guy if I’m being honest.
