I'm about halfway through this one, and I'm in love. The characters are compelling and likable, the world is realistic and makes sense, it takes old fantasy tropes and turns them on their heads, and Samantha Shannon's writing style is the type that makes you forget you're reading. I'm looking forward to finishing it, although then it will be over and I'll have to find other things by this author to read.

Anyone picked this one up?

I have not.

I'm not much of a Fantasy fan.

This definitely has all of the trappings of high fantasy, so if you're not a fan it might not be for you. But again, it takes a lot of fantasy tropes and turns them on their heads, which makes the book more interesting in my opinion, so this might be an exception
