I'm reading this now because I find it fascinating that Twain, a man very critical of organized religion and also of certain aspects of Christianity (pretty much anti-Catholic) wrote a book about one of the Catholic Church's greatest saints. While this is a novel, he did a lot of research before writing it and the things she says in the book are documented. It is written in the first person narrative and the story teller is a companion of Joan's. The really interesting thing about this is that it is Twain's favorite literary work. So it seems to me worth a read and so far it's really good.

I didn't know he wrote it until my mom mentioned it last week. Then she decided to order a copy. And now I think I left at work, darn it. I like to read a little before I go to sleep at night. Won't get back to it until Tuesday now.

This was very good. It's been a while since I finished it but I kept forgetting to post what I thought of the book overall. It was really good. While he seemed to hate organized religion, the way he writes this book seems to show that he has a great love for St. Joan of Arc. It is even more clear in his essay at the end of the book.
